livingstone, zambia.

upon returning from the zambezi sun, i have come to know how easy it is to slip back into the ways we are accustomed to.....efficiency, the expectation of self and others and the expectation on material things. time.
time, it seemed, stood still. and time was never something to talk about, let alone dwell upon.
removed from the world i know, removed from anything comfortable, constant, i began to see- to taste- to smell- to enjoy every minute detail i encountered...
the bark of a tree, the sunlight sneaking through cracks and behind breezeways under hand carved chairs, my mom's voice calling me from behind and knowing it in a crowd, and the way those grey velvet monkeys are lurking everywhere you turn.....

im trying to allow time to stand still here.
